“So many miracles have cured me, my head is small,” Dominik Majlinger, a 32-year-old miner who was saved after a strong shock at the Rydułtowy mine on July 11, told RMF FM. More than a kilometer underground and in very difficult conditions, the man waited for the rescue team for more than two days. They found him conscious.

A strong shock at the Rydułtowy mine took place on July 11th at 08/16. In the threatened area, at a depth of 1,150 m, there were 78 miners who were carrying out maintenance work on machinery and equipment. 76 of them were evacuated, a dozen of them were taken to hospitals.

Rescue teams search for two miners who did not reach the surface after the crash. July 11 evening The Polish Mining Group provided information about the death of one of them. He was 41 years old. He worked in mining for 21 years.

July 13, around 2 pm, after more than 50 hours of rescue operations they found the second wanted miner – Dominik Majlinger.

Dominik Majlinger spent a month in hospital. Speaking to RMF FM reporter Anna Kropaczek, he admitted he was feeling better. There’s still a long way to go before I’m fully fit, but I’m starting to get a handle on it. – said the miner. I can do more with myself now, so it’s good – he added.

In an interview with RMF FM, the 32-year-old he remembered the shock of July 11th. At the time of this incident I definitely lost consciousness. I don’t know how long it took me to regain it. – said the miner. The methane meter I had with me does not have a clock function, so I cannot determine whether it was 15 minutes or if it should be counted in hours. I do not remember the moment of the collapse or what happened before. It has disappeared from my memory. I tried to remember, but I could not. – he described.

It happened so suddenly that there was no time to seek shelter. I was in a good place at that time. I am known to have been injured, but I survived. – emphasized Dominik Majlinger.

A 32-year-old miner recalled that he felt at peace underground. I thought about surviving this somehow, waiting for help to arrive. There was a thought that maybe this was the end, but I took it calmly, I didn’t panic. – Majlinger described. Life has been so good for my wife and I that we now have our little angel up there… The man just thought that maybe he just knew him. There was peace in the man… You can see that it was also our Guardian Angel who watches over us – added the man.

The RMF FM reporter also asked the rescued miner about when he realized that rescue teams were approaching him.

I saw lights in the direction they came from. The moment I saw them, I started calling and yelling to let them know I was there. My lamp was no longer working. I was in total darkness and I didn’t know if I was on a walkway or behind something that covered me. I tried to yell at them – described the 32-year-old. As he added, he then felt “relief, happiness and disbelief that everything had ended well.” This disbelief continues. If you think about it, so many miracles happened there to make me whole and my head small – he emphasized.

He also described the moment he arrived in Minas Gerais in an interview with RMF FM savior Michał Pinkowski. There was great euphoria. Dominic called us. He was about 50 meters away from us. We all started screaming… People thought something was happening there, that we were dying, and we were screaming as if we were at the World Cup. – he added.

We all started running. We ran ahead, disregarding fatigue and threats. We saw him from afar. How he sits, looks and is happy to see us – described Michał Pinkowski.

She also revisited her dramatic July experiences in an interview with RMF FM. wife of the rescued miner – Michalina Majlinger.

We hoped all the time. The unknown was the worst, but I tell everyone that we never lost hope. It may seem trivial that you need to have hope, but we are a living example that you need to have hope until the end, because the ending is the happiest possible. – described the woman.
