On October 1, at 8 p.m., the Castro Alves Theater Choir Room will be the stage for the band Skanibais’ 10th anniversary celebration. Led by João Theory (trumpet and vocals) and Vanessa Melo (clarinet and vocals), the group is known for its innovative blend of Jamaican SKA and northeastern rhythms. Tickets cost R$80 (full) and R$40 (half) and can be purchased at the theater box office and via the Sympla platform.
The evening’s repertoire will include classic works by Caetano Veloso, as well as references to other great Bahian music. The public can also look forward to special performances that will be announced soon. Apart from João and Vanessa, this group also consists of Thauan Santana (trombone), Daniela Nátali (alto sax), Gleison Coelho (tenor sax), Nilton Azevedo (baritone sax), Riane Mascarenhas (double bass), Duda Brandão (guitar), Dent Dub (keyboards) and Sidnei Santos (drums).
