The idea is one of the emergency plan proposals presented by the National Electricity System Operator (ONS), at the CMSE meeting held today. At the beginning of the month, Minister Alexandre Silveira requested the creation of this plan. “The plan must include, among other things, proposals for concrete steps each year to be taken by the institutions that are members of the Electricity Sector Monitoring Committee,” the minister’s letter said.
Specifically in Bahia, the last year with daylight saving time was in 2011, after eight years of being out of the way. In Brazil as a whole, daylight saving time was in effect continuously from 1985 until 2019, when the federal government last decided to lift it, in April 2019, citing its low effectiveness in energy savings.
