Google moved its Pixel event two full months earlier and unveiled its biggest Pixel lineup yet—four. The highly anticipated Pixel 9 arrived with a 6.3-inch 120Hz OLED display, a flat body, the new Tensor G4 chipset, and an improved ultra-wide camera.
For the first time, Google has made a smaller Pro phone in the form of the Pixel 9 Pro — the same 6.3-inch screen size, but with a better LTPO panel, a better selfie camera, and a periscope zoom lens. The Pixel 9 Pro XL is your typical big flagship, but with XL added to the name and 0.1 inches more screen real estate. It shares the Tensor G4 and its camera system with the smaller Pixel 9 Pro.
Finally, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold features a redesigned, thinner body, larger displays, and an improved hinge.
The Google Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro XL will go on sale in late August, while the Pixel 9 Pro and 9 Pro Fold will launch in September.
Google also unveiled the Pixel Watch 3, which for the first time comes in two sizes — the regular 41mm and a new 45mm. It has the same Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 SoC for wearables and the same set of sensors, such as a heart rate monitor, ECG readings, SpO2, skin thermometer, and GPS. The new addition is a UWB chip.
Both models feature new Super Actua displays, 16GB of RAM, Tensor G4 SoC, and 42-megapixel selfie cameras.
While Google is introducing a new, small flagship model, the entry-level model offers key improvements over its predecessor, including 12GB of RAM and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera.
It’s amazing how good the Pixel 9 Pro Fold is in its second incarnation.
