The Pixel 9 family was launched a few weeks ago with Android 14, so you must have been wondering what Google’s plans are for the release of Android 15. According to the latest rumors, the company is planning to bring Android 15 to its Pixels only in October, probably in the middle of that month.
This is despite the fact that Google will reportedly release the Android 15 source code next week. Traditionally, the day the source code is released has also been the day Pixel devices begin rolling out, but that has changed recently, with the Pixel team regularly holding off on updates until they are fully ready.
This gives more time to finalize Pixel Drops marketing, test changes, and iron out last-minute bugs. Last year, the Pixel release was also delayed from its original schedule, and it looks like it will happen again for the same reason.
The same source claims that the Android 15 update for Pixel is being held back in order to improve stability. Hopefully, there will be enough time between now and mid-October to make that happen.
