Google Play Store reportedly rolling out a feature to automatically open apps after installing them

Google Play Store may be rolling out a new feature that will streamline the app installation process, according to a report. The feature, dubbed “auto-open,” is supposed to automatically open apps on an Android smartphone after they’re installed from the Play Store, eliminating the need to manually search for them. The reported feature builds on a recent change the platform made that allows up to three apps to be downloaded or updated at the same time.

Google Play Store Automatic Opening Feature

In a report, Android Authority, in collaboration with tipster Assemble Debug, revealed information about the alleged feature, suggesting that it could be officially announced soon. The feature was first reported to be being tested in an earlier version of the Google Play Store back in June. The latest discovery reportedly came after a teardown of the Google Play Store app version 42.5.15 APK. It is not yet available to the general public.

A video posted by the media shows a 5-second countdown timer appearing in the notification drawer before the app automatically opens. The feature is said to be enabled via a new Open automatically after installation option that appears below Install option in the Google Play Store.

Once the app is downloaded and installed, the feature automatically triggers the opening action. Since there is a toggle, users also have the option to disable it. The report further claims that the feature may be rolled out to all Android smartphone users soon.

Simultaneous downloads in Google Play Store

According to the report, the Google Play Store now allows users to download up to three apps or app updates simultaneously on Android smartphones, speeding up the entire process. It builds on a feature Google introduced in April that allowed up to two simultaneous downloads.

While the platform hasn’t officially announced the feature, Android users in India can enjoy it. Three apps are now being updated simultaneously, while others are mirroring Until status.
