Google Photos for Android could soon be updated with a new feature that will allow users to quickly edit videos. The feature is currently unavailable to users and has been hidden away within the app. These video presets reportedly include four new tools, each of which allows users to make specific edits to an entire video — or a specific section of it. These presets are currently in development and could be rolled out to users in the future, according to the report. Interestingly, an earlier report claimed that Google Photos could add a feature to lock a person’s face in the app.
Google Photos may soon get a video preset feature
Android Authority has spotted a new feature in Google Photos version 6.97 that is currently hidden, meaning users won’t be able to access it even if that version of the app is installed on their smartphone. The feature is said to have been placed in Edit option. New Preset The banner reportedly comes with four options — basic cut, slow motion, zoom, and tracking.
Each of these options is supposed to add a preset edit to the video. Users reportedly have the option to apply the preset to the entire video or to a portion of it, choosing the duration and slides. In addition, more than one preset can be added to the same slide. However, it is said that video files cannot be exported if more than two edits have been placed.
The Basic Cut preset is supposed to cut to a key moment and enhance colors. Slow Mo is supposed to add a slow-motion effect to selected video frames. Zoom, as the name suggests, zooms in and out of a selected area and can be useful for highlighting a distant object. Finally, Track is supposed to automatically track and zoom in on the main subject of the video.
However, it should be noted that this feature was found in the app code and may or may not be implemented by Google. More details about this feature cannot be determined until it is officially delivered to users.
