The Good Start program is very popular. In 2023, ZUS paid nationwide PLN 1 billion 38 million for school supplies for almost 4.6 million children. This year, more than 4.4 million children are expected to benefit from the benefit. Parents can receive a layette once a year for a child who attends school until the child turns 20 or 24 in the case of children with disabilities. It is important to note that the ages of 20 and 24 are counted annually, which means that students in the final years of technical and secondary schools and higher education are also entitled to the benefit. Send an application to August 31st guarantees payment of the benefit September 30th.
How to apply for the “Dobry start” benefit?
The application for benefits under the “Dobry Start” program can only be submitted electronically – via mZUS AppPZUS Electronic Services (PUE) platform, electronic banking or Emp@tia portal. Submitting an application takes a few minutes. If parents don’t make it today, they have until November 30, 2024.
When are you not eligible for the Good Start benefit?
Cannot be receivedć benefits of PLN 300 for school supplies for children if:
- children in the 2023/2024 school year attend kindergarten or preschool
- the children have been placed in a social welfare home, a children’s home, a correctional institution, a pre-trial detention centre, a prison, a military school or another school, if such institutions provide full and free maintenance.
If the child does not live with both parents The application is submitted by the parent caring for the child. In the case of alternating care determined by the court, each parent can submit an application to the ZUS, then each of the child’s guardians will receive PLN 150.
Who, besides parents, can apply for the “Dobry Start” program?
Good Start Program Application can also be received by children in foster homes and by those who abandon them. So the request for 300 more can send:
- adoptive family,
- a person who runs a family orphanage,
- director of a care and education institution,
- director of a regional care and therapeutic unit.
From the future academic year 2025/2026 benefit “Good start” will be available only to children who complete compulsory education in the Polish education system.
