“Accusing the Law and Justice government of doing nothing is simply a lie. It is also worth approaching this issue with complete honesty, because if we had slept through these two years, today no one in the leadership of the Ministry of Climate and Environment would know what to do. They only trust the procedures that we leave to them,” Małgorzata Golińska, former deputy minister of climate and environment and PiS MP, said on Telewizja wPolska.
August 20 this year The Provincial Crisis Management Center in Katowice reported that since the beginning of the month, more than 115 tons of dead fish have been recovered from Dzierżno Duży and section IV of the Gliwice Canal.
An experiment is being carried out under the supervision of the Ministry of Climate and Environment, which involves dosing hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) into the Kłodnica River, where water from Dzierżno Duży containing golden algae flows and then flows into the Oder.
Perhydrol is about 30% hydrogen peroxide solution, and hydrogen peroxide is about 2% solution of the same chemical compound. However, the dose administered in Kłodnica is a thousand times lower than in the case of hydrogen peroxide.
“We leave the entire course of action to them.”
We left them with virtually every course of action we’ve been able to develop over the last two years. They’re still using the procedures that were left behind, and that’s the only reason this disaster hasn’t gotten much worse.
– emphasized Małgorzata Golińska.
The issue of using hydrogen peroxide is one of the experiments we carried out in 2023 in a closed tank, in an aquarium, to see what effect it would have on both golden algae and other organisms. We have made the reports available to the current management.
– noted the former Deputy Minister of Climate and Environment.
“They trust our procedures.”
Therefore, today they can make many decisions with much more boldness. Secondly, they have automatic monitoring, that is, tests that last 24 hours a day and every hour there are readings of four basic parameters in addition to monitoring the presence of algae.
– explained the deputy.
Accusing the Law and Justice government of doing nothing is simply a lie. It is also worth addressing this issue with complete honesty, because if we had slept through these two years, today no one in the leadership of the Ministry of Climate and Environment would know what to do. They only trust the procedures we have left for them.
– emphasized Małgorzata Golińska.
The Voivode of Silesia, Marek Wójcik, announced the extension of the ban on the use of Lake Dzierżno Duże and Section IV of the Gliwice Canal for another week, that is, until August 26, 2024.
