An investigation was opened in Paris on Thursday, September 19, after the rapper Gims and his partner filed a complaint against another music figure, Booba. They accused him of moral harassment and cyber harassment over a period of six years.
After Magali Berdah, the former queen of influencers, the rapper Booba faces again accusations of harassment by the singer Gims and her partner Demdem. At the end of August, the couple filed a complaint for moral harassment and cyber harassment, a case that triggered the launch of an investigation that was entrusted to the Brigade for the Prevention of Personal Crimes (BRDP) on Thursday, September 19, on a parquet floor in Paris.
“Media nightmare”
Gims and Demdem, whose real name is Gandhi Bilel Djuna, claim that Booba, nicknamed the “Duke of Boulogne”, has been attacking them for six years. According to the complaint, reported by AFP, Booba’s repeated attacks, amplified by his millions of fans on social networks, would amount to massive online harassment. The allegations include mocking Gims’ physique as well as numerous insults and derogatory remarks towards his wife.
The posts include photos of Gims without her famous dark glasses and the Dolce Camara song in which Booba directly targets Demdem, accusing her specifically of being a “michto” (woman interested in money).
According to the plaintiffs, Booba’s “actions” are “intended to be widely reproduced by the millions of people who now follow him on social networks”. They denounce a “media nightmare” that will affect their daily lives and incomes, especially the deterioration of the public image of Gims and Demdem, who will suffer a significant drop in their income. Booba is concerned about “free artistic expression”, his lawyers told AFP.
