Florent Muslija, who plays for Bundesliga club SC Freiburg, has admitted his mistake after being banned from the Kosovo national football team, but has denied rumours he visited the club that night. “I made a mistake and I take responsibility for it. I left the team hotel without prior permission two days before the Nations League match against Cyprus,” Muslija said on Instagram. “I didn’t want to party late at night, I wanted to go out for dinner. I wanted to go out.”
Muslija was left out of the squad for Kosovo’s Nations League match in Cyprus on Monday. “There’s no doubt about it, it was definitely not the best or smartest idea of my life,” the 26-year-old explained. He has apologised for his actions, Muslija said. “This should not have happened. And those who know me know that it will never happen again.”
Before Kosovo’s 4-0 win in Cyprus, Germany starting coach Franco Foda left out two players from the squad, apart from Muslija, who were also found to have breached established rules, according to the federation.
