Apple is likely to unveil the iPhone 16 lineup in September and the company has reportedly set a shipment target of 90 million iPhone 16 units. To achieve this target, Apple’s manufacturing partner Foxconn has hired 50,000 new workers at its factory in Zhengzhou, China, reports BusinessKorea.
The peak iPhone production season usually begins in August and ends in December. To boost iPhone 16 production by hiring new workers, Foxconn began offering workers a higher hourly wage in late July, up to 25 yuan (about 4,800 won).
The Taiwanese manufacturer also increased the hiring bonus at its Zhengzhou plant, the world’s largest iPhone production base, from 6,000 yuan to 7,500 yuan.
We recently learned that Samsung and LG have also begun mass production of displays for the iPhone 16. Apple has reportedly ordered 80 million display panels from Samsung and 43 million from LG.
