Corruption in RARS? Investigation by the Public Prosecutor’s Office
An investigation into corruption in the organization and processing of the purchase of RARS assets was initiated on December 1, 2023 at the Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Warsaw. In April, it was taken over by the Silesian Section of the Department for Organized Crime and Corruption of the National Prosecutor’s Office in Katowice. Investigators believe that in the period from February 23, 2021 to November 27, 2023 in Warsaw, employees of the Government Agency for Strategic Reserves, in order to obtain financial benefits, exceeded their powers and failed to fulfill their duties, thereby acting to the detriment of the public interest.
In July, two RARS employees were detained. The prosecutor’s office accused them of preferential treatment of some RARS contractors during the execution of a €114 million contract for the supply of power generators to Ukraine.
