Former investigative journalist arrested for robbery

– Silesian police have detained four men suspected of robbery with the use of dangerous tools – Sebastian Bijok, press officer of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Zabrze, Asp., told polsatnews.pl.

The incident allegedly occurred on August 12 in the parking lot of one of the shops in Zabrze. The perpetrators met the injured party there – the owner of a medical company. Using a knife and an object resembling a firearm, they forced him to transfer an amount of almost one million zlotys to the indicated account.

The perpetrators were arrested a few days ago in Katowice, Radom and Tychy. All those arrested were temporarily detained for three months. They face up to 20 years in prison.

According to “Wprost”, cited by Polsatnews, among those captured is Jacek B., a former journalist and two-time winner of the prestigious Grand Press award.

– My client has pleaded not guilty to the charge and does not agree with the injured party’s version of events. At this stage I cannot speak about the details, but the case is circumstantial, said the man’s defense attorney, Aleksandra Kokoszka.
