Which cities collect aid for flood victims?
Other cities are also organising aid collections for people affected by the floods. In Białystok, bottled drinking water, cleaning and hygiene products, dry food and animal feed are being collected. “From Monday, 12 people can be brought to the Social Activity Centre at St. Rock 3,” Tadeusz Truskolaski, Mayor of Białystok, said on social media.
Aleksandra Dulkiewicz, the mayor of Gdańsk, said the city was acting in solidarity. “I ask you to open your hearts to the residents of Poland affected by the tragedy,” she wrote on Facebook. The collections are being conducted by the Gdańsk Foundation, the Tak Dla Polski Local Government Movement, the Union of Polish Metropolises and the Association of Polish Cities.
Magdalena Czarzyńska-Jachim, the mayor of Sopot, announced that a special collection point has been opened at 8 a.m. at the City Hall building at ul. Kościuszki 25/27. Donations can be brought in every day from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. – If gifts are delivered at other times, the city guards on duty will help with the collection – said the mayor of Sopot.
Bottled water, long-life food, hygiene products and pet food are also available in Sopot. “We plan to send the first shipment next Tuesday. All gifts will go to special distribution centers and then to specific locations,” Czarzyńska-Jachim announced.
