Łukasz Warzecha is not right in his text titled “It is better not to give in to emotional narratives and trust science,” writing that the floods currently hitting Central Europe are not unique and have nothing to do with climate change. He refers to historical chronicles, not meteorological data, in an attempt to prove his point. Unfortunately, he also manipulates the facts by using the argument “yes, there have always been floods.” But I agree with him on one thing: we need to trust science when assessing such phenomena. However, it is not archaeology, historiography, or historical meteorology that are the sciences that deal with climate change. These issues are determined by atmospheric physics, commonly known as physical climatology.
