Ecoponte, the concessionaire responsible for operating the Rio-Niterói Bridge, presented the project at a meeting with road users this week, but reported that the initiative was abandoned due to the construction of the stadium.
Flamengo acquired the land in Gasologista, located in the Port Zone of Rio de Janeiro, at an auction held on July 31. The property was sold for R$ 138 million, in an event that took place at the Administrative Center of Rio City Hall.
The site, owned by Caixa Econômica Federal, was handed over by the Union to the municipal government and then negotiated with Caixa’s investment fund.
The land was expropriated by the City Hall through a decree, an action that was challenged in court by Caixa, which considered that the assessed value of the area was R$240 million, higher than the auction value made by Flamengo.
