Despite the victory over Atletico-PR last Sunday night (29), Flamengo announced on Monday morning (30) the dismissal of coach Tite and the coach’s entire technical committee. Under-20s captain, Filipe Luis, takes on the role on an interim basis.

Flamengo broke the news on social media around 7:30 a.m. The decision comes two days before the first match in the Brazilian Cup semi-final, against Corinthians, on Wednesday (2), at 9:30 pm, at the Maracana Stadium. The match will be Philip Luis’s first as coach of professional team Flamengo.

“Flamingo FC informs that coach Tite and his technical committee are no longer leading the red and black team. The management thanks the professionals and wishes them success in continuing their careers. Filipe Luis is taking over as coach of the team on an interim basis,” the club statement said.

Tite was suffering from many crises from the fans due to Robro Negro’s performance and his exit from the Libertadores quarter-finals against Peñarol. Even with the victory over Atletico, the coach was booed and insulted by a large portion of the fans present at the Maracana after the clash.

The Flamengo coach leaves his first job after the Brazilian national team, winning the Taka Guanabara and Carioca Championships. Tite has been leading the team since the end of 2023, and achieved a record of 41 wins, 11 draws, and 16 defeats in the 68 matches he played.
