A João Pessoa (PB) first lady, Lauremília Lucenaarrested this Saturday, 28, in an operation by Federal Police in the capital Paraíba. In a note, without specifying the target, the PF informed that today’s action investigates crimes of “violent voter solicitation” and the performance of “criminal organizations” during this year’s election period.
Two search and seizure warrants and two preventive arrest warrants were executed within the scope of “Operação Território Livre”, with the support of Special Action Group Against Organized Crime (GAECO).
In a note, João Pessoa’s mayor, Cícero Lucena, confirmed that Lucena was one of the targets of the operation and alleged political persecution. “There was disproportionate use of force, he was not even called to give a statement. Obviously, Cicero’s opponents used all means to gain power at any cost,” the mayor noted.
The Federal Police also reported that Saturday’s action was the result of analysis of material confiscated in the previous phase of the police operation. “The aim is to complete evidence of the materiality, authorship and circumstances of the crime under investigation,” said the PF.
In the previous phase of Território Livre, seven search and seizure warrants and six preventive arrest warrants were executed on João Pessoa.
