Red, blue and yellow lights above the Ferris wheel: it’s not just on New Year’s Eve that people get excited about the colorful fireworks, loud explosions and glittering rockets. For many, the closing fireworks are also part of the Pützchens Markt program. Fireworks have a tradition, but they also have their critics: the loud noises scare away livestock and wild animals, and rockets and firecrackers are not particularly environmentally friendly.
