Mato Grosso state deputy arrested for drunk driving Hugo Garcia (Republican) is a rural producer and took office last Wednesday (9/18) as a replacement for Valmir Moretto (Republican), who was on leave for personal reasons.
The deputy is from Itaré (SP), but lives in Nova Mutum (MT). Garcia is known for working in the business and rural sectors, and in 2022, he ran for state deputy, obtaining 6,774 votes and securing substitute status.
In February 2024, Hugo was accused of domestic violence by his ex-wife, after 21 years of marriage. The woman went to the police station on December 18, 2023 and requested a protective measure against the MP.
Hugo, however, filed a police report against the woman for false reporting of a crime, after she reported non-compliance with the protective measures, and on the day he was supposed to be there, the deputy was not in the same city as her.
