Chihuahua, Chih.- The state attorney general, César Jáuregui, said they will appeal the decision of Judge Nora Espino who ruled against the involvement of seven people detained for clashes in the municipality of Ojinaga. Jáuregui expressed his disagreement with the judge’s decision and said that the legal mechanisms in the case will follow.

“We will appeal the decision, of course, because we no longer agree when, from my point of view, there is a lot of evidence that shows that these gentlemen were directly responsible for the clashes that occurred,” he said.

Regarding the judge’s argument that there were shortcomings in the Public Ministry’s work, the prosecutor said that there was no bad investigation and was optimistic that they would be able to appeal the decision and bring the men back to justice.

“I would never make accusations or badmouth a country because the resolution is not what I think it should be. There are mechanisms for that, we will challenge it, and then the mechanism makes it so that we don’t have to fight anymore. But many times we appeal and we can get people back,” he said.
