After a court ordered the closure of the X instant messaging platform in Brazil, Elon Musk’s company partially caved in and appointed a lawyer named Rachel Villa Nova Conceição as its legal representative. This was reported by “heise online”.

However, federal judge Alexandre de Moraes requested further documents. The judge set a deadline of five days to submit the documents for appointing a lawyer. According to “Spiegel”, among other things, a power of attorney and proof of proper registration must be submitted to the São Paulo State Chamber of Commerce.

X is disabled in Brazil

X had previously missed a court-ordered deadline to appoint legal representation, resulting in the platform being shut down and daily fines being paid. Elon Musk had already closed X’s Brazilian office in mid-August. He justified the move by fearing his representatives would be arrested.

According to “heise online,” Musk accused Judge Moraes of attacking freedom of expression and described him as an “evil dictator.” In addition, the Federal Supreme Court seized 2.98 million euros from X and Musk’s Internet company, Starlink, because X refused to block the accounts of right-wing activists.
