Electric cars catch fire several times: traffic jam on A9, regional league matches cancelled

A number of firefighters were already at the scene to extinguish the fire. Due to the extinguishing work, the A9 was completely closed, causing significant traffic congestion and long delays. At least one lane was reopened around 8pm.

Due to traffic problems, the regional league match between Viktoria Berlin and FSV Zwickau had to be canceled at short notice. The complete shutdown caused “electric vehicles to catch fire, which ignited several times,” the FSV said. “We have been in a complete lockdown since 15:30. It is impossible for us to move around here,” Zwickau sports director Robin Lenk told “Sport im Osten.”
