The punishment was imposed by the 6th Electoral Zone after the release of a campaign video showing support for the current government and using restricted public spaces, such as city schools during school hours.
The court’s decision emphasized that the use of images to promote candidates in places with limited access for students and teachers violated election law, which prohibits the use of public property for campaigning to ensure equality among candidates.
In addition to the fine, Valcicleia and Franz must remove the content from social networks. The Elections Ministry will monitor compliance with the measures, and serve as a warning to other candidates about the inappropriate use of public resources.
