The High Election Court has received nearly 50,000 complaints of election violations during the 2024 municipal election campaign. The data comes from the Pardal platform, which received 49,311 complaints.
More than 50% of the complaints, 26,519, came from councillors’ campaigns. There were 12,998 from mayors, 321 from deputy mayors and 9,473 from parties, federations and coalitions.
In the national ranking, the state of Rio is in sixth place, with 3,113 reports of irregularities, behind only São Paulo (9,744), Minas Gerais (6,239), Rio Grande do Sul (5,137), Pernambuco (4,133) and Paraná (3,736).
The capital Rio de Janeiro was the city with the most complaints, with 320. Next was Petrópolis, with 160 complaints, followed by Itaperuna (147), Duque de Caxias (131) and São João de Meriti (118).
As a result of the complaints, the Federal Police opened 1,958 investigations against candidates, 318 of which were in the state of Rio.
