The Regional Electoral Tribunal of Rio de Janeiro (TRE-RJ) held a press conference on Tuesday (1st) morning to present news about the 2024 elections. One of the main pieces of information revealed is that all transportation in the state will be free during voting days.

“Municipal transport, intercity transport and all modes – trains, buses, subways, BRT and VLT” will be available at no cost to voters, explained Eileen Ayres, director general of TRE. In the municipality of Rio de Janeiro, a decree from the mayor also includes vans, ensuring that all means of transportation are free in all municipalities.

Furthermore, Ellen highlighted the ban on the use of cell phones in the voting booth. To facilitate the voting process, voters are recommended to write down their candidate numbers on a piece of paper, popularly known as “colinha”. These measures aim to ensure accessibility and security during the electoral process.
