Elderly man survives bee attack in Gaspar after receiving more than 100 stings

An elderly man survived a bee attack after being stung more than 100 times. The case occurred on Monday (23) afternoon in Gaspar. He was rescued in the middle of the forest, in the Figueira neighborhood, and had to be taken to hospital for medical treatment.

According to firefighters who provided first aid, the 86-year-old beekeeper was found conscious but still surrounded by bees. The stings were concentrated on the head, arms, chest, abdomen and back.

Rescuers had to wear special insect-fighting suits. The truck’s nozzle was used to shower the victim and chase away nearby bees. The elderly man walked away, warmed with a thermal blanket, but his heart rate was fast.

Earlier this month, a 71-year-old he died victim of a bee attack in Timbó. Information provided to firefighters indicated that the man was collecting honey in a box when the bee attack occurred.
