Munich
More than four and a half years after construction began, SAP Garden was officially opened. At the so-called Grand Opening of the new multifunctional arena in Munich on Friday (20:30) EHC Red Bull Munich of the German Ice Hockey League will welcome the Buffalo Sabers around national player JJ Peterka of the North American professional league NHL.
The new hall with its impressive outer covering made of stylized ice hockey sticks offers space for up to 10,600 spectators for ice hockey and 11,500 spectators for basketball. SAP Garden, allegedly financed by Red Bull around 150 million euros, is intended to provide a further boost to EHC Red Bull Munich and Bayern’s basketball players. On Thursday (20:45) basket chasers Munich will host heavyweights Real Madrid in the Euroleague.
