Egypt – more than 8 million tourists are enjoying their holidays

In the first seven months of 2024, Egypt welcomed more than 8 million tourists, egypttoday.com reported, citing an announcement by the director-general of the Egyptian Tourism Authority, Amr El-Kady.

The largest number of tourists came from Germany (1.6 million last year, a number that will be surpassed this year), followed by Russia which recorded an increase of 10 percent.

More Chinese and Japanese

El-Kady noted a significant increase of 60% in the Chinese market compared to the same period in 2023 – the result of tripling the number of flights from China to Egypt to 28 per week.

Japan recorded an even larger increase, at 70%.
