Reigning Olympic champions Duda and Ana Patricia won the first tournament since the Paris Games, precisely in the first competition in which they participated. This Sunday morning (13) the Brazilians won the Top 16 tournament in the 8th stage of the Brazilian Beach Volleyball Circuit in Joao Pessoa, Paraiba.
With a split of 21/19 and 21/18, the pair defeated Vic and Tamela 2 sets to 0. The rivals had won the 7th stage in Teresina. Then the gold medalists in the French capital did not participate.
“It’s great to be back in Joao Pessoa, in the northeast, it seems to be the home of beach volleyball. The victory is very good, but returning with this energy after two months makes me very happy,” said Duda.
In the men’s competition, in the Olympic doubles match, George and Andre overcame Evandro and Artur and also won 2-0 (21/15 and 21/14).
Only two stages of the Brazilian circuit remain: the ninth, in Natal, between 30.10 and 3.11.; and the tenth and last, in Rio de Janeiro, between November 20 and 24. The Top 16 of the Brazilian Circuit unites the best ranked pairs in the ranking, divided into four groups. The first in each group goes straight to the quarter-finals at each stage. Seconds and thirds compete in the round of 16. The champion duo earned 1,600 points in the season standings.
