The driver gave a stern message to customers who cannot restrain their dogs while waiting for a package.
The worker told how his opinion of dogs has completely changed after realizing how dangerous they can be, especially if they are untrained or left to their own devices.
He said on Reddit: “I love dogs. I’ve always wanted one myself. But this job made me realize how dangerous these beasts really are. I haven’t been bitten yet, but I foresee an accident coming. Almost every house I deliver to has a barking dog, that sounds like it’s choking to death, that’s crazy.”
The man went on to explain how he has had several close calls when he almost became a dog’s “lunch”, saying someone’s pet always pounced on him. But what annoys him the most is how owners react when their pet tries to jump on him.
He added: “One woman didn’t even apologize when one of her three dogs on a walk tried to attack me! My favorite is when customers ask for door-to-door delivery, typically gated homes without mentioning that their dog is loose.
“They always say, ‘He’s being friendly’ or ‘he/she just wants to play!’ Sorry, but my opinion about your dog is set no matter what you say, I always tell people who love dogs to try any carrier and see if you still like them.
“I’m tired of people putting dogs before human lives. This is no joke and dogs injure or even kill countless people every single day. But who am I to say anything, dogs can never do that. nothing wrong.”
One user commented on his post: “I hate watching social media videos of dogs scaring drivers and the owners think it’s funny. Then you read the comments and they’re full of the usual Some even say you shouldn’t be a driver if you’re scared of dogs.”
Another user added: “I’m a delivery driver too and I totally get it. I was actually a dog person but I started hating them before the gig. Now I hate them even more. Stay tuned my friend!”
A third user said: “I’m so sorry you had to deal with that. My dad is a mailman and a pit bull bit through his arm while he was making delivery rounds a couple of years ago. The owner didn’t take responsibility and tried to sue. USPS to the dad who defended himself and fought a dog can be ridiculous.
