In Dresden, a large section of the Carola Bridge collapsed into the Elbe River early Wednesday morning. According to the fire department, a separate section of the bridge, which carries trams, was affected. A section about 100 meters long was placed in the Elbe River, blocking the river channel.

Part of the Carola Bridge is on the Elbe River.

The collapse also damaged the hot water pipes. Therefore, no one was harmed. The entire area around the bridge is currently closed. Traffic congestion in the city is expected.
