Jimenez, Chih.- Dozens of Jiménez residents immediately began looting tons of corn dumped by a train that derailed in the town on Monday afternoon; authorities were unable to stop the looting.
At least 20 pickup trucks were strategically placed to quickly load up on corn, but authorities were unable to stop the looters, despite surveillance efforts.
This afternoon a train carrying tons of corn derailed in the city of Jiménez, and hours after the accident, the people of Jiménez continued to loot the seeds.
The incident was recorded on the Jiménez-Escalón line, near the San Francisco dam, when a train carrying several tons of corn for reasons unknown until now derailed, spilling several meters of cargo around the place where the large car had overturned. Ferromex workers suspect that the derailment may have been the cause, but will not do so until they have evidence and issue a statement.
Soon, some Jimenenses came to try to illegally seize the product.
Based on initial data from Ferromex workers, losses reached millions due to the destruction of all carriages and loss of products, it was confirmed that there were no fatalities.
