Luckily, there’s a new hack trending all over social media where people are using two common household items to refresh and rejuvenate your machines.
A popular British creator on Instagram named renovation_44 shared a virus hack that is totally weird but guaranteed to leave your washing machine looking fresh and clean.
Putting toothpaste on the lemons, she said, “I know what you’re thinking, but hear me out. For a quick and easy way to clean your washing machine, cut a lemon in half, add some toothpaste and throw it in the washing machine to remove odors and leave your washing machine sparkling clean.”
Another creator shared this hack on TikTok and explained the purpose of using these key items. Anna (@anna_louisa_at_home) explained that when you use the toothpaste, it’s a bit abrasive, which helps remove built-up dirt and grime.
On the other hand, the acid in lemon juice acts as a natural antibacterial agent. Together, they form a perfect pair to freshen up your washing machine.
One person inquired in the comments: “And what does the inside of the door rubber look like?” To which Anna replied: “Stainless! I dry it after every wash to prevent mold.”
Another asked, “Is there any lemon residue?” Anna replied: “Haha rarely!”
