In late August we welcomed the standard Google Pixel 9 and flagship Pixel 9 Pro XL, now the spotlight is turning to the little Pro and Google’s next-generation foldable smartphone.
The Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold switches to a more traditional 20:9 aspect ratio for the external display, up from 17.4:9 on the original Pixel Fold. The internal display also gets a lot bigger, with a new 8-inch diagonal. There’s also a more powerful Tensor G4 chipset, but that’s pretty much it for the main improvements this year.
By comparison, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 is slightly more expensive.
The Google Pixel 9 Pro isn’t available yet, it’s set to launch on September 16 (Monday). While it’s not the smallest flagship (both the Galaxy S24 and iPhone 15 Pro are smaller), it’s notable for its 48-megapixel 113mm periscope camera and a 48-megapixel ultra-wide camera, as well as a 42-megapixel ultra-wide selfie camera.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 is noticeably cheaper than the Pixel and will have the same 7-year support (the Fold6 does too). However, the S24 has half the RAM, a smaller 4,000mAh battery, and less impressive cameras – a 10MP 3x telephoto and a 12MP ultrawide.
It is worth noting that the Pixel 9 Pro comes with a free storage upgrade. Amazon also offers additional points as a bonus when trading in an old device.
This also applies to the Google Pixel 9 and 9 Pro XL models, both of which come with a free storage upgrade and trade-in bonus.
The Google Pixel Watch 3 goes on sale Tuesday. This generation is 41mm in size, like the first two, but you can now opt for a larger 45mm model as well — in addition to increasing the screen size from 1.2″ to 1.4″, you also get a bigger 420mAh battery (up from 307mAh).
Finally, the Google Pixel Buds Pro 2 are worth mentioning – the new Tensor A1 chipset promises twice as much noise cancellation as the original Pro. However, those headphones don’t launch until the end of this month, so we’ll have to get back to them.
