The Croatian Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that several dozen Polish fans attacked Croatian fans and police after the Nations League match in Osijek. As a result of the incident, several dozen people were detained, the Dnevnik portal reported, citing the ministry’s announcement. Yesterday, the Croatian ministry reported that Croatians attacked Polish fans. The gol24.pl portal, citing information from Polish fans, reported that about 80 of them were detained without any connection with the riots.

After Poland lost the match, clashes broke out at two locations in Osijek. Upon leaving the stadium, several dozen foreign fans attacked local supporters and then clashed with police, the Croatian Ministry of Internal Affairs said.

Shortly afterwards, several Polish and Croatian fans fought in another part of the city – it was added.

Croatian police previously reported that two people were detained for using pyrotechnics during the first half of Sunday’s match. Before the match, a group of about 50 Croatian fans attacked a smaller group of Polish fans in the city center. The fight was quickly broken up by police, who arrested five people in connection with the incident. One of the people attacked suffered minor injuries. Poland lost to Croatia in Osijek 0:1 (0:0) in the second round of Group 1, the highest division of Nations League football. The goal was scored from a free kick in the 52nd minute by Luka Modric.
