Corinthians beat Atlético-GO, at the Arena Corinthians, and take a break from relegation. With these three points, the Team reaches 28 points and remains in Z4, but with the same score as the first and second away teams, Criciúma and Vitória. This result puts Fluminense back in the relegation zone in 18th place and makes the classic match even more important.
Corinthians had no trouble and beat Atlético-GO 3-0, with goals from Romero, Pedro Rangel and Rodrigo Garro. In addition to the goalscorers, Yuri Alberto was again in fine form in attack for the team.
Memphis Depay, the most bombastic signing of the transfer window, made his debut for Corinthians. The striker played only a few minutes but finished well and if not for a save from the goalkeeper, he would have scored as soon as he came on.
Now Corinthians turn their attention to the Copa Sudamericana. The team faces Fortaleza, at home, in the second leg of the quarter-finals. In the first leg, they won 2-0 at the Arena Castelão and now could lose on goal difference.
