The recently published data from the Central Statistical Office also confirms analysts’ predictions about changes in the housing market. Smaller properties are becoming more popular, which is believed to be a response to the launch of government support. The average apartment size decreased by 3.7%. This is similar to the result before the pandemic. During the coronavirus, Poles were more often looking for larger houses and properties with a garden, but there is no sign of this growing interest in larger spaces.

According to data from the Central Statistical Office, for the first time in many years, fewer installations were completed in the office, retail, warehouse and industrial segments. Furthermore, outside the office market, the declines are even in double digits.

On the one hand, this is a result of the difficulties faced by the trade sector, which translate into a decrease in interest in spaces for both commercial services and warehouses. Retail sales in the first half of this year in the food sector fell by 0.8%, in household appliances/electronics and furniture – by 8.4%, and in the clothing and footwear sector – by 14.7%. In turn, the reduced activity in the construction market has an impact on contractors and subcontractors.
