Owning an air pressure cooker can be a game changer for making a quick dinner when you’re in a rush or low on energy.
However, keeping this handy appliance clean can be quite a task, especially after cooking foods with a lot of fat or oil that sticks to the bottom of the tray.
One thing people tend to forget when scrubbing an air fryer is the heating element – even though it requires just as much maintenance as any other part.
Although it does not need to be cleaned after every use, it is wise to inspect it regularly to prevent dirt build-up.
Experts at the studio told the Irish Examiner that residue on the heating element could lead to burns, potentially damaging the device and producing unpleasant odors during use.
To keep the element in good condition, clean it gently with a cloth or toothbrush to remove grease.
Meanwhile, TikTok user @cleaningwithdanielled took to the site to show how she cleans her air fryer with dishwasher tablets.
Danielle explained that you need to “pop one dishwasher tablet into each box” and “let them soak in boiling water for about half an hour”.
If you don’t already have dishwasher tablets on hand, you can buy them cheaply from Morrisons for £1.99 for €40, making each tablet just 5p.
Once that’s done, you have to “drain and rinse,” and the video shows a lot of dirt going down the drain.
“Dishwasher tablets actually break down all the grease and oil,” he explained, “so it can go down the drain.” He described the method as his “favorite” because it’s “so quick and easy to do.”
In the comments, someone said they put theirs in the “dishwasher,” but Danielle warned, “It actually breaks them down faster if you put them in the dishwasher, so it takes longer to wash by hand. [sic] lifespan.”
Someone else suggested: “Double-folded kitchen paper, folded directly after feeding food, move it with a silicone spatula with a towel on a dishtowel once to cool, cheaper and easier.”
