The Civil Police is investigating the murder of businessman Manuel Agostino Rodríguez de Miranda, 66, which occurred on Sunday morning (29) on Bispo Lacerda Street, in del Castilho, in the northern area of Rio de Janeiro. The businessman was killed by several gunshots while he was inside an armored car.
Eyewitnesses reported that armed men arrived in another car and opened fire on Manuel’s car, in a rapid and brutal act. Teams from the homicide department were called in and are already investigating whether the crime is linked to misdemeanor activities, a recurring problem in the area.
The authorities are collecting images from nearby security cameras and collecting information about the businessman’s personal and professional life to understand the possible motives behind the attack.
The death of Manuel Agostinho raises concerns about increasing violence in Rio de Janeiro, where conflicts between criminal groups have led to a series of murders. The police stressed the importance of public cooperation to clarify the case and arrest those responsible.
