Child Support Dispute: Tyrese Gibson Reportedly In Detention

Tyrese Gibson (45) was arrested in court on Monday morning (9th) on charges of not paying child support to his ex-wife Samantha Lee for their 5-year-old daughter. The famous American celebrity portal site ‘TMZ’ reported this. The Fulton County Court in Georgia, USA, is said to have held the first hearing on the ongoing child support dispute.

According to TMZ, the judge was visibly annoyed that Tyrese refused to pay the $10,000 (about €9,000) he ordered him to pay every month. The ‘Fast & Furious’ actor was reportedly ordered to pay by April 2023. So it looks like Gibson was arrested in court for contempt of court.

According to the celebrity portal, the judge said Gibson could avoid prison if he paid $73,000 (about 66,000 euros). This includes $7,500 (about 6,800 euros) for Samantha Lee’s legal fees. Meanwhile, Gibson is said to have been paying child support for the past year. However, according to TMZ, the amount was only $2,200 (about 1,900 euros), which is much less than the amount ordered by the judge.

Gibson and Lee married in 2017 and had a daughter in October 2018. Two years later, they announced their divorce. He also has a 17-year-old daughter with ex-wife Norma Mitchell, to whom he was married from 2007 to 2009. On Monday, Gibson posted a photo of himself with his children before his court hearing, writing, “The love a father can feel for his children is indescribable. No matter what happens today, I am their father and always will be.”
