The police said in a statement that Chief Inspector Marek Boroń went to the Opole region, where the situation is difficult due to heavy rains. The statement said that at approx. 17:55 on the A1 motorway towards Gliwice, near the town of Szałsza (Zbrosławice municipality, Tarnowskie Góry poviat) “there was a road accident involving an official police vehicle” driven by the Chief Inspector.

“Fortunately, no one was seriously injured,” it read. Police said that the passengers and drivers were tested for alcohol content in their bodies and that they were sober. The statement added that the participants of the event were examined by medical services. The Ministry of Interior and Administration and the Control Office of the Police Headquarters have been notified of the case. “Activities are underway to determine all the circumstances of this incident,” it was assured. According to police, there were no major disruptions to traffic at the scene.

RMF FM reported that Superintendent Marek Boroń, accompanied by two people, was heading towards areas at risk of flooding when the car he was driving overturned. According to this report, the three people in the vehicle were conscious after the accident and were taken to hospital for examination. The police chief reportedly complained of pain – perhaps it was an injury related to the seat belts.
In turn, TVN24 reported that the car of Superintendent Boroniem had an accident while the commander was heading to Głuchołazy. According to the source, no other vehicles were involved in the accident. As we read, in the car, in addition to the commander, there were also a driver and an officer from the Police Headquarters, and all three were taken to a hospital in Katowice for examination. In an interview with TVN24, police spokeswoman Katarzyna Nowak assessed that the accident could have been caused by difficult weather conditions.
