Chicago subway shooting: Four people dead

Subway shooting in Chicago suburbs, USA. Four people were shot dead. The suspect in the attack was arrested.

According to Forest Park Deputy Police Chief Christopher Chin, all of the victims were subway passengers. As reported by local radio, many bullet casings were found in one of the wagons.

Police, who obtained surveillance footage, say the victims, whose names, ages and genders are still unknown, were likely asleep. They sat separately and did not resist during the attack. The motive for the crime remains unknown. The name of the alleged killer has not been released.

There appear to be no witnesses to the murder. According to the police, no report of the crime was received.

Chicago police have arrested a suspect in the attack. A firearm was also seized. Authorities believe the suspect was the sole assailant.

Forest Park Mayor Rory Hoskins called for the shooting “isolated case”. He called on Chicago CTA leadership to step up safety measures to “support the small community that lives in Forest Park.”

Forest Park is the only place in Cook County with two major subway lines terminating there. It is a terrible tragedy that four people died over Labor Day weekend. – added Hoskins, quoted by the Chicago Sun newspaper.
