Check out the most interesting artistic phenomena from distant and nearby cultures around the world

KSo this time he will perform in Warsaw? Oumou Sangaré, Elida Almeida, Bonga, Duk-soo Kim and Ensemble Sinawi, as well as the bands LEMMA and Suonno D’Ajere.

The anniversary of the Intercultural Festival will be celebrated over three days with up to six concerts. Warsaw residents have been enjoying the event’s programme for 20 years and every year they take part in concerts, workshops and meetings, and after the performances they willingly stand in line to get autographs from their favourite artists.

For 20 years, the Crossroads of Cultures Festival has been presenting the most interesting artistic phenomena from distant and nearby cultures of the world. It is a journey through learning new instruments, other canons of beauty, rhythms and sound colors. Learning sensitivity and understanding of artistic expressions based on principles different from those we are used to. This year, for the 20th time, we will take the inhabitants of Warsaw with a caravan of cultures to new musical lands in Asia, Africa and Europe. The anniversary edition will take place in September – says the Director of the Festival, Ph.D. Prof. Maria Pomianowska.

This year’s edition will take place at the Warsaw Drama Theatre and will begin on September 13th. The opening concert will be a performance by Elida Almeida, discovered by José da Silva himself, producer of the legendary Cesária Évora. Batuku, funaná and tabanka are just some of the influences that permeate this artist’s music. Her velvety voice, stage personality and fiery temperament are a combination that results in the unbridled joy of life that emanates from her music. She composes and writes lyrics alone. She says that her greatest inspiration is life, the people around her and, by singing about the daily reality in which she grew up, she draws attention to sensitive social issues, educates and brings hope.
