The Champions League kicked off on Tuesday. To access all UEFA Champions League matches on Canal+, you must have the Super Sport package as a satellite TV customer (new subscribers from PLN 65/month) or as a subscriber to the Canal+ online streaming service (also from PLN 65/month). If you are already a Canal+ customer or have a Canal+ online subscription, depending on the packages you have, you can purchase access to the UEFA Champions League (from PLN 15).
The pay TV operator has reached an agreement, among other things, with cable networks Vectra, Inea and Toya. Apart from Play and UPC Polska, additional Champions League channels are not offered by major operators, for example Polsat Box, Orange Polska, Netia and MagentaTV (T-Mobile).
Google Play customers are unhappy
Play’s Tuesday social media post was the final straw for subscribers. “What will accompany you this fall? Match the last digit of your phone number with your zodiac sign and write down what you get!” the operator asked on its Facebook profile.
Much of the user feedback was about the absence of most Champions League games. – Mainly it’s the Champions League, but oops… unfortunately we can’t count on that – Mateusz noted. – When will the Champions League be? These are some eggs, Oskar noted.
– We came to you for the Champions League. The consultants assured us several times that the games would be available. No service provider has deceived us like you have. Thank you. Never again. – Kuba wrote. You didn’t have to wait long for Play’s response. – If the situation changes, we will inform you about it. We hope that your emotions will subside and that you will want to stay with us, – said the operator.
Similar statements can be found on the X website (formerly Twitter). – I told you, they don’t know what they have, when signing the contract they also assured me that there would be a Champions League. The best thing is that when discussing the conditions, the guy himself suggested to me whether he wanted to replace Polsat with Canal+ to have the Champions League – noted Piotr. Onet journalist Kamil Dziubka responded to his post. I see that I am one of those people who believed that by purchasing the Canal Plus package on Play I would be able to watch the Champions League. And I even told the consultant that I was buying the package because I wanted LM. These are some balls, he said.
“Customers can watch the games on Canal+ 360 and TVP”
Why has it not been possible to reach an agreement with Canal+ regarding the Champions League so far? – The Canal+ package available on Play does not include Canal+ Ekstra channels. As we previously reported, customers can watch selected Champions League matches broadcast on Canal+ 360 as part of the available package and on TVP – explains Katarzyna Bonk from the Play press office in an interview with Wirtualnemedia.pl.
Canal+ 360’s offering only includes selected Champions League matches that are not the biggest hits (this week: Bayern Munich – Dinamo Zagreb and Club Brugge – Borussia Dortmund). Thanks to the sub-license, TVP Sport will only show 17 matches per season (in the first round: Club Brugge KV – Borussia Dortmund, and in the following round: Aston Villa – Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig – Liverpool). In each edition of the competition, Canal+ will show all the matches from the fourth qualifying round to the final. In total, there will be 203 matches in the 2024/25 season.
Play has responded to claims from some customers who say they were promised access to all matches. – We regret that the advisor misled us about the availability of Champions League broadcasts. We are very sorry to hear about this situation. If you have any questions, we encourage customers to contact our customer service office. – encourages the operator’s representative. Recordings with consultants are usually made, which should make it easier to file a complaint. Telepolis.pl noticed that some customers may have been deceived by virtual Play bots. They should have informed during the chat that the Champions League would be offered by Polsat Sport.
It is possible that an agreement will be reached soon. Canal+ is ready to make additional channels available to cable networks and IPTV operators. It said it was not in talks with rival digital platform Polsat Box. – We are also talking to the broadcaster about the Canal+ Extra channels. We will keep you informed about changes to the offer – Play’s press office assured on Monday.
