The Thuringian CDU wants to hold exploratory talks with Sahra Wagenknecht’s alliance and the SPD on forming a state government. The CDU’s state executive board gave the green light for this at a meeting, as announced by Thuringian CDU leader Mario Voigt in Oberhof. The exploratory talks are set to start next week. They also want to explore “what that collaboration might look like,” Voigt said.

Following the state elections, in which the AfD became the strongest force in the federal state for the first time, the possibility of forming a blackberry coalition consisting of the CDU, BSW and SPD is being discussed. The three parties have only 44 of the 88 seats in parliament and must rely on left-wing behavior to pass legislation.
