A woman was walking along Steckenborner Straße in Strauch on Monday at around 9:40 a.m. when she was startled by a cat.
Based on initial police findings, the cat that was in the box in the passenger seat had escaped. The driver was then so frightened that he lost control of his vehicle, which then crashed into a tree.

The car stopped on its driver’s side. According to the fire brigade, the woman was not trapped in her car. In order to rescue them as gently as possible, it was decided to open the roof of the crashed car. This was done by about 35 emergency services from the THW and the fire brigades Strauch, Steckenborn, Kesternich and Rollesbroich.

Emergency services took the woman to hospital. The road was briefly closed in both directions. The car was towed away.
