The Federal Court of Pernambuco determined that Ilha do Retiro, the home of Sport Recife, will be put up for auction. The decision, from the 33rd Federal Circuit Court, was issued on the 13th. Two planned public auctions will be held on October 1 and 10 respectively.
This decision was taken because of Sport’s debt to the Ministry of Finance. The information is from Itatiaia radio. The amount is not yet known, but the Pernambuco club is in the process of Judicial Recovery.
Ilha do Retiro is valued at R$400 million, and, according to the auction notice, if the interested parties are unable to cover this amount, “the asset will be sold to whoever offers the highest bid at the second auction, as long as it is with the bid. not less than 50% or a different percentage stated in the lot”.
Sport’s vice president of law, Rodrigo Guedes stated that the club took action to prevent Ilha do Retiro from going to auction.
“This is an important good thing for the club. It shouldn’t even be sent to auction. But we have taken all measures at the federal and state levels,” Guedes said.
