As reported by SchengenVisainfo.com, during the meeting, Minister of Tourism Ewtim Miłoszew stated that the government’s task is to make life easier for tourism entrepreneurs and investors.
In turn, Deputy Foreign Minister Maria Angelieva announced that her ministry is cooperating with the Ministry of Finance in developing a simpler system for issuing entry permits for people who would like to work in Bulgaria. It is seeking funds to employ consular staff who will be able to serve more applicants in such important facilities as those located in Delhi, Istanbul, Edinburgh, Bursa, Doha, Jakarta, Tashkent, Dubai, Cairo, Riyadh and others. These are the places where most applications for work permits in Bulgaria come from.
Bulgaria joins the Schengen area
Minister Milosev and Deputy Minister Angelieva also discussed the temporary suspension of visa issuance, which was in effect from 9 to 18 August. This is related to the introduction of a new version of the National Visa Information System (NVIS), which would become operational during this period. This is part of the process of full integration with the Schengen area.
Bulgaria has also made it possible to accept applications for temporary passports in urgent situations and to check powers of attorney and declarations in emergency and humanitarian situations, for example, cases of force majeure, natural disasters, urgent travel related to the illness or death of a loved one, and travel by minors.
